4th September 1922 - 24th April 2016 Bernard Lowther was the oldest surviving Richmond player (93 years old) until he passed away. There was a Richmond Number 3 jersey draped on his coffin. The jersey belonged to his son Bernie Jnr who was awarded it from the Richmond Club when he was selected for the Kiwis. Bernie Jnr said that his dad was given a Richmond Centenary hoodie which he wore almost every day until he passed away. Richmond loyal. RIP A small memory of a Richmond great. Bernie played in the amazing Richmond teams of the 1940's which defeated Sydney Premiership winning teams, such as Balmain Tigers in 1946. Jim Riddell was part of this great era. Notice the Carlaw Park shot with Number 2 in the background, and the University Chapel steppe in the background. Cheers Peter Ah Kuoi |
