RICHMOND PREMIER 1ST VERSUS PAPATOETOE PANTHERS SEMI FINAL GAME
In a very tough encounter to see who would go to the SAS Sharman Cup Premier 1st grand final against Otara Scorpions Richmond had come up against a spirited and hungry Panthers side at Grey Lynn Park. After beating the Panthers in the previous two encounters Richmond were committed to making this a repeat. With a number of players out injured and others not available Richmond fielded a team with two new players. Richmond hit out hard and fast and lead for majority of the game until the Panthers clawed there way back in to the game late in the second half. With 10 minutes remaining an opportunity presented itself to kick a penalty conversion. Richmond opted to tap the ball. Richmond did not score and so Papatoetoe went on to hold on for a gutsy 22-20 win over the Premier 1st.
