The Richmond Premiers take on Howick Hornets at Paparoa Park, Howick this Saturday. Coach Ming Mafoe has made a few changes to his team with Meke Unasa moving in to the front line in the centre position whilst young gun Damon Niko slots in to full back. The return of stand-off Jason Tavita to his 2013 Fox club will hopefully be enough for the rest of the team to put in a solid 80 minute performance. Experienced second rower Ben Seve returns this weekend and with young gun forward Petelo Faasee on Fox Premier debut the Richmond Premiers take with them a host of experience and enthusiasm.

The Premiers will need all the support they can get as they are expecting a great battle and will need all Bulldogs supporters in attendance! So get on down this Saturday afternoon to Paparoa Park, 2.30pm kick off. Premier 1st kick off at 12.45pm.

The Richmond Premiers take on traditional rival Otahuhu Leopards at Grey Lynn Park this Saturday. Coach Ming Mafoe has made a number of changes to his team struggling on injury and form over the past two weekends. Powerhouse wingers MafolaTimaloa and Debarres Neemia-Tanu partner up with strike centres Cale Baker and Marcus Auva’a this weekend. Highly competitive player Josh Mana and young gun Damon Niko form a new halves combination bringing with them confidence and x-factor. The forward pack has been rotated with Josh Siaosi and Harry Vete starting in the back row. They will be well supported by tireless utility players Bronson Harden and Joe Alesi who will bring plenty of punch from the bench. Captain Karl Simeti will need a huge effort from his forward pack that will rely heavily on Vice-captain Siliga Kepaoa’s strength and courage. The Premiers will need all the support they can get as they take on a very tough and well drilled team with experience and fire power right across the field. So get on down this Saturday afternoon at Grey Lynn Park, 2.30pm kick off. Premier 1st kick off at 12.45pm.

Tigers roar at Grey Lynn Park

On Saturday 5th April Richmond Premiers played the Northcote Tigers in the first round of the 2014 Fox Memorial Shield competition. The weather was perfect, the fields were in pristine condition and no doubt everyone was eagerly excited to get the Round 1 game under way. Richmond captain Karl Simeti was a late exclusion with the birth of his second child allowing utility player `Harry Vete to be named on the interchange bench.

Richmond however did not start the match off on a good note with a ball going to ground from kick off. Richmond showed glimpses of skill and courage throughout the first half but threw away valuable ball possession and field position with rookie like penalties. Late in the first half starting hooker Damon Niko was put in the sin bin for a professional foul and stand in captain Siliga Kepaoa joined him shortly after (ill-discipline). Richmond went in to the half time break with having had two players in the sin bin and behind on the score board 18 -10.

The second half showed the visiting Tigers were more committed to tackles with attack in numbers and appeared to be more determined to grind out a win against the home team. Northcote scored a number of long range tries which put them in the winners circle for week one, 48-16. Opposition hooker Sam Cook scored three tries on the back of a good Tigers forward platform.

Coach Ming Mafoe will want to look at areas that are of concern including the ruck area and defence line speed if there are going to be improvements moving forward.

This Saturday the Richmond Premiers play Mangere East Hawks at Walter Massey Park at 2.30pm. The team would appreciate your support as they travel away for a much needed win to begin their 2014 Fox Memorial Shield Competition campaign. Bite Em Bulldogs

Talofa family and our beloved Richmond Under 18s

We have 8 players registered and we are looking for another 8 before we can take the field even though all we need is another 5 players. 8 so we can ensure to last the season. We will continue to train every Tuesday and Thursday until we find the required number of players.

Are you up for a challenge? Do you want to keep testing yourself as a league player? Do you know of someone looking for a team to play for? That is what is going on at the moment with our Under 18s team.

Am not going to lie, it is a very frustrating time but we can register a team any time throughout the season. We are going to persevere. I will continue to give you updates. We appreciate those who have signed up already and if your thinking of signing up please feel free to contact me and come down to the club.

Faafetailava and God bless - Mathew Timaloa

This community run event allowed for the Richmond Rovers Rugby league & sports club to mix and mingle with other local businesses. The Richmond Rovers Junior club got together and ran a successful sausage sizzle barbecue fund-raiser outside of the Grey Lynn Tavern.

Much thanks to the Grey Lynn Residents, Grey Lynn Business Association, the Richmond Junior club volunteers, Grey Lynn Tavern and our loyal supporters of Richmond Rovers rugby league. We appreciated the opportunity to promote our proud club and for also sharing your thoughts, feedback and welcomed donations.
