15 minutes into the first half Pt Chev score 12 unanswered points. The home team capitalized on Richmond's handling errors and missed tackles. Richmond manged to score in the corner with some quick passing from our left side backs thanks to an unconverted Teanu Henry try, 12-4. Richmond scored a converted try through some slick Issac Ah Kuoi running from dummy half, 12-10 to Point Chev.
The second half started with very strong wind. Richmond defended the goal line very well with Pt Chev attacking at will. Richmond held off the dominating Pirates and once in possession Richmond played smart football with dummy half running and early kick, chase, defend sets. Richmond quickly rotated its bench forward players giving the Bulldogs much needed grunt and momentum. Richmond went on to score a try thanks to Fu’e Lomi, converted by Tamu, 16-12 to Richmond.
Wiith 15 minutes to play Pt Chev started to throw the ball around and twice they were denied tries due to double movement errors. The Richmond team were running on tired legs with very little in the tank. Luckily that Richmond spirit kept the team in control as the team were jumping up with joy that their efforts meant they came away with a 16 – 12 win.
Surrey Hotel Player of the Day was awarded to the whole team.
