This week we said our farewells to a great Richmond man. Hal Riley's Funeral Service was held on Thursday 26 May, 2pm at Romleigh chapel on Ocean view road, Northcote, Auckland. Hal started at the Club in 1979. NZ Sporting Promotions was the company he ran. Hal was part of the club through the 1980's. He was Richmond Chairman at one stage, He was one of a kind ol' Hal and one of life's characters. You will be missed mate! Some comments were posted via our Facebook page Toa Sammy Onesemo Sagapolu One of the funniest Richmond guys. An Aussie with an acerbic wit! Always had a great yarn and a salesman with "innovative" ideas on raising money for our club. If memory is right, he was our Chairman in the eraly to mid-80s! RIP HAL, have apraty with Afi and the Richmond gang up there! |

Where I got the classic line "he couldn't get a kick in a stampede". A staunch Richmond supporter and stalwart, RIP Hal the true Aussie battler.

Sorry to hear that "Riley Ace of Spy's" has passed away. A very likable rouge who always had a comment to make, I had many fond memories of Hal. My condolences to the family.

Back in the days when Otto played, I always remember Hal calling out without fail, Otto got any Crogan!!!! This was all I kept hearing from this man, throughout the years at Richmond.! Never knew what the word Crogan meant. An Aussie that had a gift of the jargon. RIP Crogan Man.....From Your Mate Potsy.

Shocked by this news RIP Hal - he sprung me two weeks in a row at the Bird Cage the night before playing?! He never said anything cause I nabbed POD in those both weeks - never went back to the cage for the rest of the season didn't want to press my luck - as it turned out he was a bit of a local there
