RICHMOND CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

On Tuesday 27th May the Richmond Board met to review the LJ Hooker Richmond Premiers record of 0 wins from 8 games and what could be done to ensure Richmond remains in the Fox Memorial Shield Competition for next season. The Richmond Board unanimously voted to appoint Bernie Perenara as co-coach to work together with then current coach Ming Mafoe. The Richmond Board’s unanimous view is that Bernie’s coaching experience at Fox level, two Bartercard Cup Grand Finals for Marist-Richmond Brothers, Auckland Vulcan’s, NZ Maori’s and NZ Residents level can only help a coach in his first year at Fox Memorial Shield Competition level to turn Richmond Premiers season around.

Ming’s response unfortunately was that he was not willing to work with Bernie.  This was disappointing to the Board so on Thursday some Board members met with Ming to see if Ming could be persuaded to change his mind and work together with Bernie for the good of the team.  But for his own reasons, Ming has chosen not to work with Bernie as co-coach and effectively stepped away from the coaching position.  This is not what the Richmond Board wanted, but Ming has made his own mind up.

Therefore, by default not design, Berne Perenara is now the sole coach of the LJ Hooker Richmond Premiers for the rest of this season.  The Richmond Board is grateful that a coach of Bernie’s quality is prepared to do the best he can for Richmond for the 10 remaining competition games.  Richmond as a Club strives to remain in the Fox Memorial Shield Competition for next year, we know all Richmond members and supporters will get behind Bernie and our Premier team as they focus on winning next Saturday’s game versus Marist Saints at Murray Halberg Park, 2.30pm kick off.

Things like this happen all the time in footy, just a few weeks ago St George sacked their coach for the same reasons. I'm sure everyone who is a Dragons fan would have been congratulating the board for that, but once it happens in your on back yard you air all your dirty laundry out in the open against the board.
Your in the Fox now and the aim for everyone including players, coaches and board is to ensure you stay there. Now the board could have handed it another way and Ming could have thought about it and thought about all the hard work he has put in these last few years. But at the end of the day results weren't there and if a coach can't put aside his pride for the better of the club and especially the players then that coach has taken that team aa far as he could and therefore warrants change.
Also don't think Bernie is the right person to be leading the team now, yes he has experience but his records show NO championships no winning culture and Bay Roskill bought him in to help save them from sharman and look at where they are now. There's one or two ex coaches the club has had that can turn this season around.
We need to win 3 games to stay in the Fox as Northcote has 4 points. All they have to do is beat Richmond and they stay in the Fox.....

In support of Ming Mafoe don't rationalize what's happened.Ming was done wrong and the fact that Rovers Supporter insinuates choice and option over substance and principle as well as comparisons to coaches getting sacked all the time and St George fans congratulating "Their Board" shows you are one and the same with the Richmond Board in that you have your head firmly entrenched up yonder.Know that the Europeans founded Richmond and that the Pasifika Migration has greatly contributed to where we are now at. Unfortunately, transparency does not exist with the current Board nor does honesty, respect, diversity and loyalty. This board would rather cut off its nose in spite of itself than to come correct with information pertaining to the club and to engage in open dialogue with the mass of wonderful people that make up Richmond.Dont put out B.S memos with your fancy speak believe it or not SAMOANS,TONGANS,NIUEANS,TOKELAUNS,FIJIANS,COOK ISLANDERS,TUVALUANS and MAORIS can speak read and write in English and know B.S when we see read or hear it. So when you see the common good in Richmond People know that you are not part of that but a part of the ignorance that needs to BA-BOUNCE , mortgages paid off , trust funds and retirement accounts sorted ......at the expense of many. MING this mess is way over you or I but your heart is Gold Uso way to keep it real, I'm Richmond Hard not a board member faking like "It's" a Rovers Supporter,

It is a decision the board must now rest with and hopefully all "SUPPORTERS" of Richmond will overcome this hurdle for the betterment of the club to move forward. Whether you are a supporter or non-supporter of this terrible decision, we must not let the main reason why we all love this CLUB and the GAME define who we are as BULLDOGS! It is one thing to do this to one of our own, but another to also oust on social media our board who are also part of our Bulldogs Family (and some of them who have and are doing good things for the club). Like every job, the people at the top make decisions that are either going to make or break an organisation, unfortunately the decision the board have made here is undeniably unjust and one must be held accountable. So my question here is; Where do the selection panel who chose Ming sit in all of this? The board and the selection panel are made up of different people, yes/no? Have the selection panel given Ming the support he needed and needs now? Why would you ask Bernie (no disprespect to Bernie he is an innocent party in all of this) to help Co-coach when his resume speaks of NO Championships and the Bay Roskill Saga? If Bernie was to make a difference, he had the opportunity to do this in the 2 weeks he was there helping Ming...hello! We, the supporters are getting to hung up on airing out dirty laundry over social media, allowing/giving others reasons why they should'nt be playing for our club, when we should be protecting our CLUB "THE BULLDOGS". Some of you airing out this dirty laundry are also those who have in the past made it hard for our club to move forward, and yet you speak as if this has been an ongoing problem with the current board when in actual fact it has become a culture down here from the boards in the past that every man is out for himself or their circle of supporters!!!! If you are all hung up on what the current board is doing now, then I challenge you to get down there and help out (easier said then done!). We all hold some degree of anger about how the board have approached Bernie to help out Ming, but the longer we allow this anger to consume us the more we let our CLUB down! Yes, what has happened here is unjust, by adding more fire to the fuel will leave the tank empty and a club no more! We're all talking family this and family that, well, there will be no more family if there is no more BULLDOGS CLUB! We're DOWN but we're not OUT! Lets find a way through this together, as a CLUB to keep our CLUB going. BULLDOGS BITE we don't scream and shout!
